I hadn't been following this but it looks like on May 18 the FCC voted to remove restrictions on distance on CB radio transmissions. They left current power levels as-is.

Wondering if CB manufacturers will use this in their marketing of CB radios - "Talk to other drivers on the road or talk across across the country to other CB users" - no license required!![:)]( "Smile :)")
